indigenous engineering reload

Just as market society has tightened its grip on the management of our social and natural environments, neoliberal economics has hijacked the essence of educational institutions, transforming them from arenas for challenging knowledge into product design research and development. This derailment of Western ecological pedagogies sheds light on the moral collapse and institutional crises that we are experiencing today. However, if contemporary academia fulfilled its duty to convey genuine engineering rather than parading trends for gain, we would realise that the situation outside alternative ecosophical realities is not as dire as speculative design would have us believe through the promotion of its goods.

Plethora of thriving customs and healthy practices thrive beyond the scope of mainstream Global North imperialism. Long plagued by guilt for not embracing Western values, they now recognise their good fortune in not being part of them. They no longer hope to convince a civilisation that is solely concerned with perfecting the world in its own image, even though the latter is exhausted, unsustainable and toxic. Thanks to the growing recognition of relationships between humans and non-humans, a reversal ecology is emerging, enabling environmental pedagogies to draw inspiration from initiatives led by indigenous communities rather than the other way around.

Diverting from parachute science thanks to indigenous engineering reload rather than experiencing harmful lucubration on “case studies”, is what we will address by discussing some of the dynamics we are conducting in the world through Design Diplomacy, Maritorium Biocracy and Anatolian Parallax. Where other existence praxis, environmental ethics, ecological philosophy and purposes to empower our biospheres, flourish as long as they do not cross the hare-brained ideas of current generic corporate academia, professions and enterprises.
